Role Description

AST Networks will provide thorough product training and an introduction to the broader AST Networks operations to ensure you are well-equipped for your role. As our technician you will provide service support to both AST colleagues and to external customers. The Global Customer Support Technician will also be assisting with new product adoption when required.

As a Global Customer Support Technician, you will deliver expert and professional support for satellite communications products provided by the AST Networks. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of AST’s core services, including L-Band services, Radios, VSAT, and One Web terminals. You will handle both technical and non-technical inquiries efficiently, responsibly, and courteously.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

Engage in product training and familiarise yourself with AST operations as part of your introductory training. After completing this you will:

  • Deliver knowledgeable support for satellite communications products and services.
  • Responsible for addressing technical and non-technical inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for specialist knowledge when necessary, ensuring clear communication of issues and resolutions to customers.
  • Deliver service support to AST colleagues and external customers.
  • Support with the adoption of new products as required.
  • Responsible for conducting onsite installation and repair of equipment when required. Perform hands-on testing and repair of supported equipment

  • Have high levels of self-motivation and a strong drive to learn.
  • Able to adapt and be flexible to achieve quality outcomes in the varying demands of this role.
  • Able to work a shift rotation - that covers 24 hours a day / 365 days a year

Essential Experience

  • Strong customer service experience, preferably within technical teams.
  • Experience in satellite communications or communications is an advantage.
  • Understanding of IP and networking.
  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office and Outlook essential).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to retain and apply technical knowledge.
  • Ability to diagnose, problem solve, and fault find using available support documents and guides.
  • Interest/experience in Electronics and Engineering
