Role Description Are you ready to embark on an exciting career in satellite communications? AST Networks is offering a unique opportunity as a Global Support Apprentice, where you’ll immerse yourself in cutting-edge satellite technology and contribute to keeping the world connected.

As a Global Support Apprentice, you will gain in-depth knowledge of a wide range of satellite communication products, from handsets and hotspots to advanced VSAT terminals, BGANs/FBBs, and radios. You will play a crucial role in providing top-tier support to our customers, whether they’re troubleshooting technical issues or seeking product guidance.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with our Global Technical Support Team, assisting colleagues and customers with their inquiries. You’ll have the chance to work directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to resolve complex challenges, honing your communication and technical skills. Through comprehensive training, hands-on testing, and potential involvement in on-site installations, you’ll be fully prepared to advance to the role of Global Technical Support Engineer.

Key Elements Job Content: Responsibilities and Deliverables:

By the end of your Apprenticeship qualification, you will be able to:

  • Provide a professional and knowledgeable support service for satellite communications products, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Resolve external and internal customer enquiries, delivering a same day solution to the customer.
  • Maintain electronic records via our CRM system.
  • Provide customers with relevant documentation and resources.
  • Monitor network availability and uptime, and co-ordinating action.
  • Complete Stock upgrades and testing/repair of equipment, with onsite installation and repair.

  • An Effective communicator - strong listening skills with a can-do attitude
  • Have high levels of self-motivation and a strong drive to learn.
  • Able to adapt and be flexible to achieve quality outcomes in the varying demands of this role.
  • Have an interest in communications/electronics and network engineering.
  • Be curious about IP and networking in the communications industry

Essential Experience / Qualifications / Educational attainments

  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good communication skills, verbally and written.
  • Ability to retain and apply technical knowledge.
  • Ability to diagnose, problem solve, and fault find using available support documents and guides.
